W. Jeremy Salter

Jeremy was born in Riverdale, Georgia.  He is a graduate of Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, Georgia.  He attended Clayton State University where he was awarded his associates degree (A.A.) in criminal justice and his bachelor’s (B.A.) degree in integrative studies (melding the disciplines of criminology and accounting).  Jeremy was awarded his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, cum laude (class rank 11 of 349), from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida.  At graduation, Jeremy was recognized as a graduate with honor for his grades, his work as a member of the editorial board for the Florida Coastal Law Review and for his pro bono service as a law student.  Jeremy volunteered his time with the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Refugee Project. He was also a research assistant to three professors. Jeremy has continued his legal education and was awarded his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Alabama with a specialization in taxation.

Prior to law school, Jeremy apprenticed with John A. Beall, IV, a prominent death penalty defender.  While admitted to practice in 2007, Mr. Salter has worked in the law since 1999. Since his admission Jeremy has practiced in several areas of law including criminal, civil, family, probate, tax, administrative and bankruptcy.  Jeremy is also highly competent as an appellate attorney and has passion for statutory interpretation. Jeremy has published articles in legal trade journals, has written an unpublished comparative law article regarding State and Federal racketeering laws and conducted speeches on various RICO concerns and student loan resolution.  Jeremy has a wide range of clients, he represents our everyday neighbors to major international corporations.

Jeremy is passionate about alternative courts, so much so Jeremy ran for Floyd County District Attorney in 2016 in hopes of establishing a drug court which our community desperately needed.  While Jeremy’s bid for D.A. was not successful, the current D.A. has established a drug court and thus Jeremy’s efforts were not in vain. He is currently a board member of NAMI Rome.

Jeremy is married to Jill Sealy Salter and they have two children: Sealy (8) and Marlo (6).  Jill & Jeremy have been practicing law together since 2013. Their practice varies, but they specialize in bankruptcy, litigation.  They also handle most civil, criminal and domestic law. Jill and Jeremy have been Romans since 2013 and are proud of their city. They attend First Baptist Church of Rome.   They are excited to help create a better community not only for our present friends and neighbors, but for future generations to come.

Jill S. Salter

Jill Salter and her family relocated to Rome in 2013. She is originally from Florence, Alabama.  She attended the University of Alabama and earned her degree in Public Relations with a minor in Criminal Justice.  She then attended law school at Florida Coastal School of Law where she met her husband, Jeremy. Jill currently practices mostly bankruptcy law, but practiced general civil litigation prior to moving to Rome.  She worked for a small firm that represented Clayton County government. Our office handles most types of bankruptcy, civil & criminal cases. Jill takes great joy knowing that they can help make their clients’ lives easier.

Jill loves volunteering her time and services.  She has worked extensively with Georgia Legal Services to provide free legal counsel to those who cannot afford it in Northwest Georgia.  She is an active member and on the board of Junior Service League of Rome and has enjoyed every minute of her time with JSL. She is always working hard to raise money for League for Learning, which provides school supplies to the local city and county schools in Floyd County, whether it be through selling poinsettias, tickets, ads or anything else.  She is currently serving her term as a board member for NAMI Rome. She also volunteers her time with the YMCA and through various programs at her church, First Baptist of Rome. She enjoyed working with End Slavery Georgia which is an organization that is trying to combat human sex trafficking in Georgia. She also enjoys donating her time to the Alzheimer’s Association and was a prom court member in 2017 raising nearly $5,000.

She is incredibly proud of her little family.  She and Jeremy have 2 children, Sealy, 8 and Marlo, 6.  They keep her and Jeremy laughing and on their toes. She also has a sweet rescue dog, Katie, who happened to find them one day.  Jill has loved living in Rome and becoming a part of the community. She enjoys the many local activities that are available and enjoys meeting new people every day.  She and Jeremy love to cook and to try new foods. She loves to spend time with her family traveling, walking on the local walking trails, playing at the parks, seeing plays at The DeSoto Theatere and attending the numerous festivals and special events in the area.
